Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
AppearAt (https://appearat.com) shows where public figures are scheduled to appear, based on public information. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Bookmarks. When you bookmark a person, we set a cookie with a random ID (not your name or email) and save that ID with the people you bookmarked, so your list is there when you come back. The cookie is set only when you bookmark someone, is not readable by scripts, and expires after one year.
- Page views. We count which pages are viewed: the page address without its query string, the website that linked to it (its name only), when, whether the request looks automated, and a one-way, salted hash of your IP address to count distinct visitors. No cookies are used for this, and nothing is recorded when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.
- “Get tickets” clicks. We record which event was clicked, when, whether the request looks automated, and a one-way, salted hash of your IP address so we can count distinct visitors. We do not store your IP address.
- Sightings and tips you submit. We store what you write, the place you report (rounded to about 110 meters when you share coordinates), and a salted hash of your IP address for rate limits and to count independent reporters. Tips are reviewed before anything is published.
- Display preference. Your light/dark theme choice is kept only in your browser.
- Technical logs. Our hosting and content-delivery providers process IP addresses and browser information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
Third parties
- Ticket sellers. “Get tickets” takes you to Ticketmaster, sometimes through an affiliate tracking link (Impact). Their privacy policies apply on their sites.
- Maps and images. Map tiles load from OpenStreetMap and photos from Wikimedia, which receive your IP address as part of the request.
- Hosting and security. Traffic passes through Cloudflare.
Information about public figures
Event information comes from public sources: official announcements, ticket listings and news coverage. We list public appearances only and do not publish private homes. If you believe something about you or someone you represent is wrong or should not be listed, contact us and we will review it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and ask us not to sell or share it (we do neither). Residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws have these rights by law. Email [email protected]; we answer within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We will update this page when what we collect changes, for example when sign-in becomes available, and change the date above.
